Dr. Alex Delekos

Alex Ntelekos is an insurance executive with over 15 years of professional experience. He currently heads Public-Private Solutions business across Europe, Middle East and Africa for Gallagher Re, a top-3 global reinsurance broker based in London. He joined Gallagher Re in 2022 following 11 years at the Bank of England (BoE) most recently as a Senior Manager in Insurance Supervision. At the BoE he led a wealth of initiatives including Chairing the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) group responsible for the calibration of Solvency II catastrophe risk in Europe, the BoE’s work on cyber insurance underwriting, and the climate change stress tests framework for insurers. Prior to that he worked for Willis Re as a research coordinator of the Willis Research Network and a senior catastrophe risk analyst. Alex is also an evaluator of EU Research grants relating to climate change and financial services and he has authored more than 10 research publications in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of hydrometeorology, public policy, and climate change.
Alex holds a Ph.D. in Extreme Hydrometeorology from the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering of Princeton University, an Executive MBA from the University of Exeter, a M.Sc. in Remote Sensing Hydrology from the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering of the University of Iowa, and a Diploma in Environmental Engineering from the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete.
