Abstract
This thesis examines the quantity and quality of surface and groundwater of the fourteen River Basin Districts of Greece based on the Approved Management Plans. The aim of this thesis is the classification of the water quality in Greece and the depiction of the water characteristics of each area using the Geographical Information System (GIS). Specifically, the water parameters studied for this project are BOD, nitrogen and phosphorus levels, as well as water usage and availability for each Basin District. Data for these parameters were collected from the Management Plans and then demonstrated on tables and GIS maps and pie charts for the purpose of comparing the results and drawing the necessary conclusions.
