Dr. Apostolos Voulgarakis is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete, where he holds the AXA Chair for Wildfires and Climate. He directs the Laboratory of Climate Change and Atmospheric Environment at TUC, which specializes in the use of high-complexity models and satellite observations for the understanding and prediction of the Earth’s climate, of the composition of the atmosphere, of air quality, and of the role of wildfires in the Earth system. He is the Founder and Founding Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society based in London, with TUC being the first officially Affiliated Organisation of the Centre. He has participated in a range of international scientific efforts for the study and the prediction of present-day and future climate, as well as in the authoring of chapters of the IPCC assessment reports of the United Nations.
