The Technical University of Crete is coordinating a Working Group as part of the new pan-European network dedicated to studying and responding to climate change in the Mediterranean. The initiative, titled 'A Transdisciplinary Approach to Bridge Climate Science and Impacts on Society' (FutureMed), has recently been selected for funding by the intergovernmental organization COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) for the next four years (2023 - 2027).

Recognizing the need for an integrated and multidisciplinary response to climate change in the Mediterranean, FutureMed aims to bridge the gap between climate science and its societal impacts. This pioneering initiative seeks to establish a platform where scientific communities, stakeholders, and citizens can interact. Its goal is to enhance awareness of climate change impacts, identify future research priorities, and develop tools based on adaptation strategies.

The Working Group, coordinated by Associate Professor Aristides Koutroulis from the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (CHENVENG), will develop a cross-disciplinary agenda. This involves meaningful collaboration with stakeholders to create methods and tools for climate change adaptation, exploring their usability and potential for outscaling.
