Em. Professor and IWWG President Evangelos Gidarakos participated in the 6th International Symposium on «Circular Economy and Urban Mining», conducted on 18-20 May in Capri, Italy.
Prof. Gidarakos opened the Symposium, as President of IWWG (International Waste Working Group), one of the Symposium Organizers.
He made an oral presentation on plastic waste management, connected to COVID19 pandemics, that present high production, significant dispersion in the environment due to improper disposal and special characteristics that make their management quite challenging. Emphasis was given to single use face masks.
Also, he participated in a round table discussion on circular economy application in waste management at touristic areas. Greece and Italy were presented as case studies, while existing chances and difficulties were explored.
