The inaugural issue of the new scientific journal Circular Economy and Sustainability (CIES) published by Springer has just been announced, where Alexandros Stefanakis, Assistant Professor at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering is the Editor-in-Chief. CIES is the first academic journal that puts circular economy at the core of its scope. The main aim is to resolve the current fragmentation of circular economy and sustainability literature and presenting research that help forge interconnections between these two complementary concepts in order to form a new multidimensional concept.

CIES provides a unique discussion platform on this rapidly growing topic and suggests a new scientific dialogue and research agenda to strengthen the nexus between engineering-natural sciences and the economic, management and social sciences. CIES vision is also to present innovative solutions to solve the diverse economic, social and environmental issues towards delivering a circular economy.
